How To Make Your Airbnb “Business Travel Ready”

After having our first business guest book without knowing that was an option on Airbnb we starting doing more research to qualify. For those brand new to Airbnb, making your listing available for “business guests” means you have to qualify by having the correct amenities. Desk, WiFi, self-check-in, etc.

We found that qualifying for different types of guests REALLY increases the number of viewers your listing will receive by 20-30%. The algorithm on Airbnb definitely promotes more accessible listings to all their guests so be sure to cast a wide net and add as many amenities as possible.

In short, to qualify for business travelers your Airbnb listing will need:

  • Wireless Internet
  • A laptop-friendly workspace
  • Self-check-in (this includes a key lockbox, doorman, keypad, or smart lock)
  • A smoke detector
  • A carbon monoxide detector
  • Essentials (toilet paper, clean towels, and fresh linens)
  • An iron
  • Hangers
  • A hairdryer
  • Shampoo

These are all may seem like basic amenities but they can drastically increase your exposure on the platform. To give you a real-life example, these are the exact amenities that we have on our first unit:

The most difficult part that hosts struggle with is by far the “Self-Check-In” requirement. For us, we just bought a Kwikset Smart lock on Amazon for under $100.

Here are three other top brand smart locks for under $300 on Amazon that will simplify your properties self-check-in:

We highly recommend adding one of these and checking off the boxes required to be included in Airbnb’s “business travel ready” category. Its worth the small investment for the increased exposure and bookings.
