The 5 Best Organic Baby Oils For Massages

We love going to the spa when we can find time for it. It is great to finally carve out some time to relax from a busy schedule. Being pampered with the skilled hands of a masseuse is also welcome! We think about the physical benefits that a massage has on us. We also acknowledge that apart from being physically relaxing it also has a very calming effect on us mentally. The body feels rejuvenated and the mind follows. We would recommend it regularly if you have the time and if you can afford it.

The benefits of massages are prominent at all ages. Babies find them particularly relaxing. Research has shown that massaging babies helps them with their blood circulation and digestion. It may also help in muscular tension, growing pains, and teething discomfort. Just imagine how silently and deeply your baby will fall asleep after a full-body spa session. It is also a great time to bond with the baby. You can whip out your most goofy baby talk and watch in delight as it responds in smiles and chuckles.

We are super excited and looking forward to giving our baby the most gentle and relaxing massages. For that, we are going to need some great quality organic baby oil and when you ask us for a recommendation you know you are going to get the most wholesome, natural, and organic suggestions only!

US Organic Baby Oil with Calendula

This one has been USDA certified. It contains calendula extracts. Calendula, as we have discussed on this blog before, has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. It is useful in treating wounds and healing eczema. It is also known to be effective in treating diaper rash because of which we recommended baby wipes that are infused with calendula. The product is completely made in the USA. It is certified cruelty free by the Leaping Bunny program. The organic baby oil is also composed of other natural ingredients like sunflower oil, olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, grapefruit oil, orange oil, calendula extract, lavender oil, and eucalyptus lemon extract. It has been made with absolutely no alcohol, parabens, preservatives, synthetic additives or scents, artificial colors, and artificial detergents. The only complaint we have is that the coconut type smell may not be for everyone.

Cocobelle Baby Pure & Gentle Premium 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil for Babies

This is a straightforward, through, and through simply coconut oil purified to a high degree. Coconut oil has been used for centuries to massage babies. It is known to be effective against dry skin, dry scalp/cradle cap, bottom balm, nappy rash balm, skin sores, redness, inflammation, and flaky baby skin. All the coconuts used in this formulation are ethically sourced and organic. Each jar has been made from the goodness of 4 of those coconuts. You don’t have to worry about pesticides and GMO traces in your baby oil. A little secret for the parents: You can even use this one as a lip balm or moisturizer if you run out of yours.

We recommend this organic baby oil with a caveat because some might not like the natural smell of this one. The smell however is light and not overpowering.

Burt’s Bees Baby 100% Natural Baby Nourishing Oil

If this blog was a comic book, Burts Bees would be the hero that shows up in almost every issue and never lets the team down. This baby oil is made with apricot and grape seed oil. Apricot oil is known to improve skin tone, maintain softness, and maintain the radiance of the skin. The formula is free of phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, or SLS. It is hypoallergenic and completely safe for the baby’s skin. There is also a mama bee version for all the mothers who want to treat themselves too. The baby oil is scented while the mama bee version is not.

Mustela Baby Oil, Moisturizing Oil for Baby Massage

This is made from natural avocado oil, pomegranate seed oil, and sunflower seed oil. It is made from 99% natural ingredients. It is hypoallergenic and safe to be used on newborns. The organic baby oil is paraben-free, phthalate-free, phenoxyethanol-free. It has been certified so through dermatologist and pediatrician testing. Mustela has been making natural skincare products for over 60 years. The scent of their products is iconic at this point. All of Mustela’s products meet the rigorous standards of social & environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The company has been certified as such since April 2018 by the B Lab which is a non-profit organization.

Pipette Baby Oil with Renewable Plant-Derived Squalane

We’ve saved the best organic baby oil for last for this list.

This is a fragrance-free option that is made from sugarcane-derived squalane. Squalene is a moisturizing agent that is found in the vernix. The vernix is a greasy layer that covers the skin of the baby during birth. It is made by mother nature to protect the baby during its precious first few hours in this world. Squalene is, therefore, a natural moisturizer that keeps the skin healthy. Sugarcane derived squalane is a stable version of the agent that can be packaged and distributed without loss in moisturizing capability.

This baby oil is designed to hold in the moisture due to a mixture of essential fatty acids and extra-pure ceramides. Ceramides are fats that are naturally found in the outer layers of human skin. Other ingredients include antioxidants, including açaí berry sterols and vitamin E. The formula is hypoallergenic, free of synthetic fragrances, cruelty-free, and EWG (Environmental Working Group) Verified.

So, as you see, everything in this bottle is all-natural. These are oils and moisturizers that nature has created for humans. We highly recommend this baby oil for the thoughtful choices that have gone in its creation.

We are really happy at the variety and choices available to us as consumers, especially in organic and all-natural products. In this case, we believe that massage oil is only a small piece of the puzzle. The real fun is in making an effort to spend time with your baby and giving it your love and affection. A massage is just an excuse!

Love,

Scooch and Steve
