The Best Keurig Models and K-Cups For Short Term Rentals
In our experience as Airbnb hosts, we’ve tested multiple different coffee makers. Coffee has become a key part for short term rentals now and it’s super important to include as an amenity.
There are sound household names like Keurig making affordable models now so you don’t break the piggy bank on the maker itself… it’s the K-CUPs that are the long-term expense. When we first set out like other hosts for the dream of having 5 stars and being a super host, all research pointed to coffee being a key ingredient. After a few months, we realized that K-CUPs are not cheap but there are A LOT of options. Personally we do all our short term rental shopping at Costco to drive our cost per unit down.
These are all reasonably priced but make sure you do more research on the K-CUPs that each guest will be consistently using. Quick tip – there are now re-usable K-CUPs but they aren’t as widely used yet.
- Keurig K-Select – the gold standard for VRBO and Airbnb for $100
- Keurig K-Classic – great value for only $79
- Keurig K-Mini – perfect for 200 square foot short term rentals
Now that you know the best coffee makers these are the best K-CUP selections we’ve found our guests enjoy the most
- Green Mountain Coffee – this is a great variety 40 pack and gives a wide selection for guests for only $22 on Amazon.
- Crave Coffee Variety Pack – this is a massive 100 count variety pack of coffee that will give guests a great selection for CHEAP. Its only $33 on Amazon but it’s not Keurig branded.
- Starbucks K-Cup – this is a great branding play that guests love and will mention in reviews and it’s less expensive than Green Mountain from Amazon for only $28.
- McCafe K-Cup pack – these are of course branded with McDonald’s which all guests are familiar with. The 84 pack is only $34.99 on Amazon which is an amazing bargain.
- Laughing Man Coffee – this is Hugh Jackman’s coffee brand and its great for guests. Hugh’s blend is helping struggling countries with their coffee trade. We’ve had a lot of reviews about this and its a powerful message to send through coffee.
If you are going to get a Keurig, make sure you project out what the cost of your K-CUPs will be as well. As we’ve mentioned in the past the rule of thumb for guest goodies is 5% of the nightly rate. If you can keep everything below 5% your margin will be high enough to keep it cleaned and cover any unexpected expenses.
For our first short term rental, we have a Keurig classic and we stock Laughing Man Coffee K-Cups. This combo has lead to 10+ great reviews about our coffee setup.
Coffee is worth investing in 🙂
