About Baby Food Stages
In case you are not aware, baby food is labeled in stages. Stages are indicators as to which baby foods should you feed your baby depending on your baby’s age in months. On the packaging or product description, the products are labeled as Stage 1 or 1st, and so on and so forth.
So if your baby is less than 4 months old you are only supposed to feed it breast milk or baby formula. Once your baby is older than 4 months you can start feeding it Stage 1 foods. Stage 1 continues until your baby is 6 months old. Then you switch to Stage 2 foods and so on. The different stages and the corresponding age in months are as given below:
- 1st Stage → Month 4 to Month 6
- 2nd Stage→ Month 7 to Month 8

Make sure to pay attention to the packaging and you will be fine. Also, remember that the stages are all approximations and not all babies are the same. Test your baby’s reaction to the food according to the chart above. If they respond healthily, then continue. If the baby does not respond well, give it some time and don’t rush the process. Remember to consult your doctor if your baby does not respond well to the food stage it is supposed to be at.
