Office Supplies Essentials For Your Airbnb Listing

If your guests are working professionals, there has to be space and there should be resources for getting their work done in your Airbnb. Whether it is somebody catching up on late work or trying to get a head start in the morning, you need to make sure that they are not lacking the essentials needed.

Try to remove as many barriers as possible to make sure the guests to best utilize their time. A lot of work travelers tend to make multiple trips between different offices. If you make an impression once then they will book you again and again. Here is a list of items that you need to keep the professionals happy with your property and to keep them productive.

Get a desk. Position the desk so that it is in a clear area with ample light and access to a wall socket for powering the electronics. It should ideally be plush against a wall. It should have a grommet hole to organize the many cables that could clutter up space. Make sure the table has plenty of drawers to organize documents. If the drawers can be locked, even better. Pick something that goes with the rest of the furniture in the look and feels. No need to splurge on standing desks or adjustable height desks unless you are really enthusiastic about giving your guests the ultimate office experience.
Walker Edison Soreno Modern 3-Piece Corner Desk:  For an empty corner of your room, this table will be a snug fit. It has a professional look with a polished, tempered and beveled safety glass top. The desk can be split and used as two individual standalone desks. This is perfect to keep in one area or split become two.

Get a swivel chair. An office chair will make a huge difference to the comfort level of working at a desk. Using a cheap chair for long hours can lead to strain on the body, especially hurting the guest’s back. The chair should have all the usual adjustments and should be comfortable to sit and work on. The chair should have padding for a comfortable posture.
AmazonBasics High-Back Executive Swivel Office Computer Desk Chair: This swivel chair is an Amazon bestseller. It has pneumatic seat height adjustment, 360-degree swivel and smooth-rolling wheels for easy mobility. It is also under $100 so it should be perfect for anybody on a budget.

High-speed internet. This often gets taken for granted but you should always check that you have a reliable internet connection that doesn’t die frequently. There is nothing more irritating that trying to get your work done and being constantly pushed offline. Check with your internet provider that you are getting a high-speed plan that can still give adequate speeds when multiple people log onto it. This is even more important when you are sharing your own internet connection with the guests.

A surge protector is a must-have device that is really inexpensive but can prevent a lot of headaches in case of a power surge. It protects the electronics from a sudden rise in power input.
AmazonBasics 6-Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip: This one has a 6-foot long cable and notification led light with a high Ampere circuit breaker to notify you when you are protected. It has 6 outlets for multiple devices.

It would be a great addition to the room if you can get an external monitor to let people connect their laptops. It can double as a Netflix watching screen. It will have to be powered externally. Make sure it has an HDMI in which is the most common connector for displays.
Acer SB220Q: This one is under $100. It has a Full HD display and AMD Freesync technology that makes for a smooth viewing experience.

Get a printer in case they want to get documents printed and ready before work. Printers are inexpensive and a great way to show that you are prepared. Make sure the printer ink is restocked regularly. You don’t have to get a premium printer or expensive ink. You can get an inexpensive type.
HP Officejet 3830: This one is an inexpensive printer with most functions like copy, scan, fax, print that will be needed for an individual. You can even directly connect to this one by your cellphone. It can be used by travelers wanting to print their tickets but who don’t have their computers with them.

Stationery is an important part of an office. Don’t go overboard but have something basic like pens, pencils, staplers and paper clips. Keep it in the desk drawers so that the guests can find it where they expect it. If possible get them in a set first and then stock them individually as they run out.
TOODOO Desk Accessory Stationery Kit: This is a great set for getting all the basics in one purchase. If something breaks or you run out, pick up what is missing from a store near you.
AmazonBasics Mesh Desk Organizer: Get this desk organizer to keep all your stationery organized in the same place. You don’t want to create a mess by having stuff lying around.

Precautions to take:

Do you need to provide a computer? Not likely. People traveling for work will be carrying their own devices. It is also a matter of security because nobody would feel comfortable logging into an outside machine like that.

It is a good idea to check whether you can get refills on printer ink cartridges instead of spending money on authentic cartridges every time.

Make sure the electronics you get are power efficient. You don’t want a high electricity bill if someone forgets to unplug after use.

There is a good chance that you may be overpaying for your internet. Take time by asking someone knowledgeable about technology to pick out the right plan for you and your property.

Don’t overload the surge protector. Don’t have many high energy devices on the same strip or you risk a fire hazard.

There will be some abuse of office supplies like printer paper by a few unscrupulous guests. Don’t let that discourage you from providing these services and advertising them on your Airbnb.

Love,
Scooch and Steve
