The 5 Best Nespresso Compatible Compostable Coffee Pods

In a previous blog post, we looked at all the best Keurig compatible compostable coffee pods on Amazon. So today to cover the rest of the instant coffee drinkers, we are going to look at the best Nespresso compatible compostable coffee pods.

Automatic coffee makers like Keurig are an excellent choice if you are always in a hurry and need your coffee in the most fuss-free manner as possible. However, this does come with a huge caveat. To use one of the coffee pods mentioned in that blog post, you need to actually own a Keurig. This is all well and good for most people but it didn’t occur to us at the time that there are automatic coffee makers apart from our trusted Keurig. We were a little late to the party but I’m sure that a lot of our readers who are also coffee aficionados like us might have access to a coffee maker that is not a Keurig.

At this point, if you are not aware of Nespresso, you might ask “What is Nespresso and why should I care?”. That is a fair question. Let us look at the reason why.

What is Nespresso and Why Choose It Over Keurig?

First of all, they are both coffee brewing systems that make single servings of gourmet and premium coffees. Nespresso is a brand owned by the Nestle Group, the Swiss food processing company. Nespresso is a more premium brand of coffee compared to a Keurig. If you buy original, all Nespresso coffee is roasted, ground and packaged in one of three factories in Switzerland. That is what makes it more expensive and presumably gives it its signature taste. Another difference is that Keurig can also make tea, hot chocolate, and other hot drinks. Nespresso sticks to brewing coffee, espresso, and cappuccino.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are two types of Nespresso lines – Original and VertuoLine. The pods that they use differ in sizes and are not compatible with each other. So apart from deciding on the brand you want to go with, you also have to pick the correct line of coffee makers within that brand.

With that info session out of the way, let us look at the best Nespresso compatible compostable coffee pods on Amazon.

Filicori Zecchini GRAND CRU INDIA Nespresso Compatible Capsules

The capsules are developed with an oxygen barrier that achieves total impermeability. This locks the freshness and taste and prevents the coffee from getting stale. The capsule material is entirely made up of bioplastic which is made of renewable raw (organic biomass sources materials). There is absolutely no aluminum used in its production. The compostability (According to European Standard EN 13432) of these Capsules is certified as OK COMPOST by TÜV Austria / Vincotte. That means they are compostable in industrial composts.

The company behind this coffee is owned by two families and has been operational since 1919. Their coffee is served in more than 3,500 cafés all through Northern Italy. All the coffees are ethically sourced. Coffee beans for this particular flavor are grown in the highlands of India. This brand also has plenty of other flavors like COSTARICA, ETHIOPIA, CENTENARIO, and more. These are not compatible with the VertuoLine.

Molecule Coffee – Natural Caramel Coffee Pods

The coffee for this brand is high-quality single-origin Arabica coffee. The coffee beans are grown at higher elevations. This slows down the bean development, resulting in more nutrients being delivered to the coffee. This translates to more flavor and a higher concentration of healthy organic compounds in the coffee. The beans are roasted in small batches to preserve their taste.

The capsules are made from corn-derived natural materials and are compostable in industrial composts. There are plenty of flavors to choose from like natural caramel, Uganda, natural vanilla, extra strong, and more. The coffee is available in packs of 10, 50, and 100 counts.
